I've been gone a while. I started reading fanfiction to escape and I got sucked in an abyss.

I have no idea if someone else is hosting similar challenges. I just grabbed some of what I have hosted before.

Here's to a happy year of great reading
Jan2023: Not much has changed. Writing a fanfiction now O_o as well as reading but I bought 7 new books in December and hope to get those read soon. Crossing fingers about adding challenges (late!)

Thoughts on...Vengeance by A.J. Scudiere

Just as watching a movie without the sound track leaves much to be desired, A.J. adds a sound track to Vengeance. If you like audio books, get ready to be surprised.

I loved listening to this story but realized that I get too distracted listening. Guess I should have known, I once fell asleep listening to Harry Potter! Audio problems aside, I really like this book.

Would have been a great teaser....
If he’d had a heart that might have broken it – that the baby stayed quiet. To be that young and already know that crying did you no good. Or worse.

There are different narrators depending on who the main character is at the time and different voices for different characters when they're speaking. Actually, not just voices....different people!

Because of my distraction problem with audio books, which I didn't know was so great, I haven't finished the audio but I can truly say I've enjoyed listening and am looking forward to hearing the rest.

The story is well written and very descriptive. Listening to the wheezing while the narrator talks about the man trying to breathe through a punctured lung is quite an experience.

Would I purchase more AudioMovies? Not sure. I can read faster than they can speak but it is a pleasure listening. If I had a long commute (or any at all) I would try harder to get through my problem with audio but as it is, I think I should stick to print. I think I'll try crocheting while listening, maybe that will help ;-)

Would I purchase print books by this author? Absolutely.

Claymore Beller tried to do the right thing. It was the last thing he did. In retaliation for his efforts, his mafia bosses laid waste to his family. Only the youngest–Cynthia–came up fighting.

Three years ago, Lee Maxwell made the same error. His wife and daughter paid for his mistake. In a haze of booze and regret, Lee disappeared.

Now, Owen Dunham is following the trail of the ‘Grudge Ninja’–only all his evidence is false and the profilers can’t get their heads around anything except the obvious fact that the Ninja is extracting a deadly revenge for an old wrong.

As the Ninja gets bolder and far more dangerous, Owen is forced to recognize that he hasn’t always made the right decisions–he’s spent far too much time trying to be right. Even as he questions whether bringing in the ninja is the right thing to do, the voice in the back of his head is telling him that it will make his career…
