Kindle: love it or not, it is here to stay....

Husband was watching the History Channel, "101 Gadgets That Changed the World" and guess what #50 was. Yup, the kindle.

I purchased a first generation and was so disappointed, I returned it. The page turning was too slow and the screen went completely black between pages. It gave me a headache!

So, new generations and a vacation coming up, I bit the bullet and bought another one.

sigh

The main reason I got it for my Mom. We were going on a cruise together and since she'd be in a wheelchair, I thought we could read together. I bought the Kindle Touch and "Anne of Green Gables" trilogy.

Results? disappointment. The trilogy didn't have a table of contents so I was unable to go to book two. My mom never used it. While the refresh rate has improved, it's still too slow so I'm going to return this one too. :-(

I still love my Kindle books, I'll just read them on my laptop or my iTouch.

The old Kindles were really slow turning pages, I don't mind the new ones, but you have to find what works for you. To be honest, since getting the iPad, I don't use the Kindle much. I'd love to try the Kindle Fire, but they don't send it outside the US (even so, I've got a giveaway on my blog where the prize is a Kindle Fire, I figure someone should get to enjoy it, even if I can't have one).
But yes, I think they're here to stay.

I have heard lots of disappointments from people that had the original Kindle.

For Christmas my hubby got me a Kindle Fire....OMG LOVE IT!!!!! It is fast, print is nice and big, easy to use, and battery life is amazing. Also I can go online even to check email or do facebook stuff. I really love it. LOL, no I'm not telling you what to buy, but if you decided to try again, go for Kindle Fire. ;) But I agree with post above, do what works best for you. :)

I should have tried the Fire, might have kept that one but I'm such a Mac person that I think I'll save my pennies for an iPad. In the mean time...I've got Kindle apps!
